Abstract: A scientometric study was carried out to quantify scientific research worldwide in the field of problem-based learning. There were analyzed: scientific productivity in general and particularly for the most productive countries, the most productive authors and their membership, the journals in which the most are published, the network of collaboration between countries. Primary data were downloaded as plain text files from the Web of Science - WoS database. The results were viewed using VOS Viewer, a tool for building and viewing bibliometric networks. The database has 7167 documents. One hundred thirty-three journals were published. This topic is issued, the most productive authors, the most productive universities, the keywords in the title, and the summary of the 7167 articles were extracted. Six clusters were identified that generate six directions of approach and research. The authors analyze the information and present the importance and the way of including this academic training method in the curricula.
