| Abstract: | In this prospective study I presented the efficiency / toxicity of iron chelation therapy for 8 children
with β thalassemia major, hospitalized in Children Hospital Brasov between march 2011-march 2013.
Evaluation of hemochromatosis based from level of serum ferritin (every 3 month), echocardiography (every
6 month), abdominal ultrasound (every 3 month), and complete growth assessment (every 6 month). I
evaluated desferrioxamine toxicity by yearly ophthalmology and audiology examination and deferasirox
toxicity by biochemistry every month (ALT, AST, and creatinine). |
