Caninul maxilar inclus-studiu radiologic observațional asupra frecvenței

Abstract

Tooth impaction is a very frequent anomaly nowadays. Impacted maxillary canines are second most frequent but more addressed than other impactions such as the 3rd molars, because of the importance the canine has from both functional and aesthetical point of view. The present study wishes to address the problematic of the impacted maxillary canines by doing a prevalence study. Panoramic radiographs taken on a period of 3 months in two radiological centers in two different cities in Romania underwent a screening for impacted maxillary canines and the positive diagnosed cases were further assessed. The results of our study show similar values of prevalence and other clinical aspects with results reported in the international literature. This shows the importance of early diagnosis in the dental office so that adequate follow-up and treatment can be put in place at the best time.
